Recruiting

That man must have the initiative to ask has always been a requirement of Freemasonry. To eliminate it is to eliminate an essential characteristic of Freemasonry: initiative.

The simplest way to address this change is for you just not to use it. Don't ask. Don't solicit. You cannot control what other men do, but you can explain why a man seeking to me made a Mason is a far different thing than a man being sought to be a Mason.

If you hold to tradition and tell new members that while it is legal to ask, Masonic tradition and teachings are based on a man taking initiative on his own and seeking membership, you can preserve our custom despite a change in the rules.
